Major Digital Marketing Trends for 2020 and Beyond

In this blog, I am going to share with you the digital marketing trends for 2020 and beyond.

The modern-day marketing is nowhere close to traditional marketing methods. Thanks to the innovation in technology, marketing methods and techniques are continuously evolving. What once was limited to digital marketing as the latest way of promoting a brand has now taken the shape of Omni channel marketing.

And the evolution process does not seem to come to a halt shortly at least. Some of the upcoming trends include:

Major Digital Marketing Trends

On-SERP SEO Optimization

Are you familiar with the term ‘zero-click result?’ If the term does not ring a bell, then the zero-click result refers to the generation of an automatic snippet by Google as an answer to a query.

To make it easy for you to understand, let’s assume you type in a query asking ‘What is the temperature in New Today?’ As an answer to this query, Google will generate an automatic result. This result is not the AdWords or organic search result. To view them, you will have to scroll down.

As to how Google chooses these snippets that are said to be a part of a website’s page ranking on page 1 of SERP is still unclear. And businesses are looking for ways by which the featured snippet is from their website. This is important because researches suggest that 61.8% of the search results are now zero-click results.

Optimizing for Voice Search

Another development in the world of marketing has been the rise of smart speakers. It is a convenient way of searching for every possible thing that you wish to. For example, I wanted to search for WOW Voice deals yesterday. Instead of typing the query, I just spoke into the speaker and the results were in front of me.

Thanks to Alexa and Google Home who have been making our lives convenient. However, advertising on smart speakers was not the norm until this year. According to researches, one of the smartest ways to advertise on smart speakers is through branded skills. The branded skill approach adds a customer-friendly tone to the advertisement.

More Chatbots

Another popular strategy among marketers these days is the use of chatbots. The AI-powered chatbots offer ease and sophistication to the users who interact with them. Moreover, it benefits the businesses by cutting down on the cost they would otherwise spend on paying the human employees. No wonder organizations continue to invest in the latest and more helpful chatbots.

However, businesses need to understand that chatbots are not only helpful for large businesses but they also aid the smaller ones to continue their operations with ease. In short, any business that has a website can benefit from the use of chatbots that can answer the queries. Hence, converting visitors into warm leads.

Interactive Video Content

Video marketing has been a growing trend ever since its inception. The viewers enjoy watching videos more than they relish reading a blog post. But this does not mean that the written content holds no importance. It’s just that videos tend to attract more people. Here are a couple of video marketing statistics for you to have a look at:

  • 82% of Twitter users watch videos on the social media platform
  • YouTube is reported to have over a billion viewers
  • Every day over 500 million hours of videos get viewed on YouTube
  • 87% of all Internet marketers use video content to engage the audience

The statistics stated above indicate that video content is only destined to grow in popularity among users. Thus, marketers who have not started employing the use of this platform, should up their game and do so. The trend of interactive videos is more popular now. Your business can make use of interactive videos on various platforms including emails, social media, blogs, and websites. Interactive videos aim at increasing the engagement level.

Facebook and Instagram

Paid advertising is no new news for marketers. But the platforms that these advertisements are more famous on have seen a changing trend. The shift is more towards Facebook and Instagram now rather than other social media platforms.

Instagram ads and Facebook ads are very famous among businesses that want to promote themselves. Talking of Instagram alone, the volume of advertisements has grown by eight times in only four years .The popularity of Facebook and Instagram is leaving behind other social media platforms including Twitter, Snapchat and Pinterest.

I had to learn this the hard way when I advertised about WOW Internet on all platforms hoping that it would work. It cost my company a lot while the only conversions came from two platforms. But as they say, making mistakes is part of learning.

Conclusion

Now we have discussed a lot about the digital marketing trends for 2020. Other than that, you as a marketer should always keep yourself updated regarding any new trends. You will see that you can bring in great businesses for your company if you are well aware of the latest trends and happenings in the world of marketing.
